Tough Mudder: CHECK!

Team Wet Wedgies, pre-race!

12 plus miles, 3,200 foot ascent and descent...we started at 6,000 feet and climbed to 8,300, falling rocks, freezing cold muddy water, tight spaces, scraped knees and elbows, muscle spasms and rope burns. The Norcal Tough Mudder was seriously fun! Really, REALLY fun!

Mount Everest. It was scary and great!

Set in Squaw Valley's Olympic Village, the backdrop was breathtaking. I mean, it literally took your breath away being that high up!

We were actually much, MUCH higher than this!

Once you adjusted to the altitude, you needed to come to grips with what you were about to partake in. Twelve miles of rocky, uneven terrain, that could take out even those with ankles of steel, tubs of freezing water to which they just kept adding more ice, a half-pipe so high and slippery, it seemed impossible to get over, extremely high platforms you were expected to jump off of, scary underwater time (which, I'm not embarrassed to say, I skipped a couple of times) and electrocution!!!

Me and Patrick, crawling through the Boa Constrictor. Yes, there was blood.

As awful as it all may sound, I am ready to start training for the next one! After this, I realized I need to switch up my training a bit. A LOT more upper body strength was needed (the Funky Monkey wasn't happening), lower back strengthening needs to be taken to another level (the Devil's Beard was painful, as was the sliding down the mountain and forget about the Berlin Walls), and I must, MUST practice swimming in f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g water. That was simply horrifying!!

Jeff, our photographer/videographer and my man!

Thankfully(?), Jeff could be counted on to catch a lot of the action. He was actually along for the journey for about 10 miles of the thing! He just couldn't participate in the obstacles. He managed to sneak by and 'Carry his Wood' with us though! Next time, he'll be a real participant, not just a spectator!

A HUGE thanks to all of team Wet Wedgies! Couldn't have done it with out all of you!

If you are looking for something seriously challenging to do, both physically and mentally, the Tough Mudder is for you! But, keep in mind, a Warrior Dash, it ain't! In fact, they make a point to make fun of those 3-mile fun runs at nearly every turn! Is that right? No, but it's really funny!

Yeah, Tough Mudder!!!!!!
